FAQs

What is freetaxreport.com?

freetaxreport.com was created to help taxpayers gain a better understanding of their personal IRS account and to verify the existence of any outstanding issues, audits, balances or missing returns.

How does freetaxport.com work?

freetaxreport.com will ask you a few questions, like, What brought you here? Do you know of any outstanding tax issues? Are you just curious? etc. You will then sign a form that will allow your confidential tax report to be generated based on several different transcripts obtained from the IRS’ database of taxpayer information.

What type of information does the report show?

The IRS keeps record of several pieces of information and the majority of this information is reported by employers and financial institutions. The report will summarize this income information reported to the IRS on your behalf for the past 10 years. Other information included in the report are line by line items that have taken place on any given tax year over the last 17 years. Examples of this are; when returns or extensions were filed, any negative or adverse items such as collection activities, unpaid balances, audits, red flags and much more.

How does freetaxreport.com obtain this information?

We obtain it through the filing of an IRS form 8221. Freetaxreport.com is powered by FinancePal in conjunction with a nationwide professional tax company, Community Tax. Form 8821 authorizes any individual, corporation, firm, organization, or partnership you designate to inspect and/or receive your confidential information verbally or in writing for the type of tax and the years or periods you list on Form 8821. Form 8821 doesn’t authorize your appointee to speak on your behalf; to execute a request to allow disclosure of return or return information to another third party; to advocate your position with respect to federal tax laws; to execute waivers, consents, closing agreements; or represent you in any other manner before the IRS.

What information goes on the 8821?

A Tax Identificatoin Number (TIN), which is most commonly a social security number, is used to confirm the identity of a taxpayer and identify the taxpayer’s return and return information. It is important that you furnish your correct name and social security number (SSN) . We suggest using the exact name, SSN and address that was used on the last return you filed.
If you do not have an SSN, you can also furnish an individual taxpayer identification number (ITIN).
Note: You must sign the authorization and in the same way that you listed your name. No initials or nicknames, it should be the way you typically sign your name.

Does freetaxreport.com share any information with the IRS?

No! This is only information we receive verbally or in writing from the IRS and share with you.

How long does it take to receive my free IRS report?

Processing times vary but usually the IRS report is received within 21 days.

What happens if I don’t receive my report?

We would suggest waiting a minimum of 30 days before inquiring about a missing report. There are a number of reason why a report may not process. Mainly, the name and social security number do not match with what’s on record with the IRS. This could be as simple as a typo or name change due to marriage.
We will normally be notified if there are any issues with the information provided. Check your email for any notifications.

How do I get updates?

freetaxreport.com will mainly communicate through the email you have provided. There are circumstances in which we will reach out to you on the phone.

What do I do if there are outstanding issues?

Don’t worry, we can help! As mentioned before, freetaxreport.com has partnered with Community Tax, a nationwide leader in resolving outstanding tax matters. In any reports where issues are identified, an analysis will be performed by an individual from Community Tax. Along with this analysis, they will provide a free consultation on how the issue got started, what can be done to fix it and how to prevent it in the future.
